Well wow! We got asked to create the flowers for the ceremonial start to the Tour de France at Harewood House. With Yorkshire gripped in Tour fever we were truly honoured to be a small part of the day. From where Royalty stood on the starting line they would have been able to see our blooms and that makes me happy! Sunflowers and lots of them was the plan to represent the yellow of the prestigious event and circular shape of the bike wheels. Here are a few pics of the day. What an increible event it was and the build up all over the tour route was just magical. The athletes were just so impressive, Yorkshire beemed with pride and it all felt terribly lovely. The bunting is out of the front of the house still and all over Otley where the tour passed through, I hope it stays for as long as possible.
We created 60 arrangements in total for the table centres and all were created so they could be taken home. A mass of sunny sunflowers handtied in sleek black containers. We created some little focal planting outside the marquee area too in our stunning silver urns. Harewood House looked like it had swollen with pride and the buzz around the place was immense. You can see some of the images here from the Harewood House website
A very happy occasion and hopefully a legacy for Yorkshire. We love working on events especially when they are as incredibly special as this one. Working with same style of arrangement en masse just looks great, Tres bon! x
