How to style an elegant, modern bridal bouquet using succulents
We adore using succulents in our floral design. They’re extremely durable, very modern and come in so many wonderful sizes, shapes and colours. These designs, from a beautiful wedding at Broughton Hall, use succulents to create an overall look that’s wild, textured and just perfect for our bride, Biba.
We styled Biba’s bouquet using lots of floaty, dreamy textures in muted colours, including candy floss pink astilbe, white stocks and lots of beautiful cream wax flowers. We added purple veronica and blue thistles to add small moments of bright colour and compliment the blue-grey of the artic ice succulents. We created a wildly textured collar of berried eucalyptus, asparagus fern and myrtle to add lots of variation and romance. The bouquet was finished with a trailing ivory silk ribbon. The light, billowing fabric complimented the white stocks and the white of Biba’s flowing Justin Alexander gown.
The bridesmaids carried four similar but smaller versions of Biba’s bouquet to compliment their sleeveless wrap dresses in pale flushed pink.
We also used succulents to style the Wharfedale Grange wedding of the wonderful Jess and James in 2017. We used lots of artic ice succulents in varying sizes to stand out against the bright peach David Austin Juliette roses and we think the overall look is perfection.
