Creating an exquisite biscuit blush and red trailing bridal bouquet for a contemporary Wharfedale Grange wedding

It’s a beautiful frosty morning at our workshop in Harewood, Leeds so we couldn’t help but throw it back to this stunning autumn wedding at Wharefdale Grange last September. And actually we think these beautiful deep reds and burgundies would look just as stunning set against today’s icy backdrop! John and Natalie found us via the venue (we’re the recommended florists at Wharfedale Grange) and we couldn’t have thought of a better location for their elegant and contemporary wedding.

The overall theme of the wedding flowers was timeless elegance and Natalie had her heart set on a statement bridal bouquet. We opted for a trailing arrangement to compliment the large skirt of her Pronovias dress. We used our home-grown dahlia in a beautiful dark chocolate cushioned between lots and lots of South African blush protea. We also added deep red amaranthus, dill, O’Hara roses, muted red cymbidium orchids and burgundy cornflower in abundance for that big, full look. These beautiful tones were framed by lots of trailing eucalyptus, berried euc and ivy. Natalie wanted her bridesmaids’ bouquets to be equally decadent so we created six huge bouquets in a round, front facing shape. We added additional flowers in deep burgundy and brown shades to add a contrast to the bridal bouquet that was still rich and luxurious.

For the groom and his seven groomsmen we created button holes of O’Hara roses and spray rose, finish with small thistle details. We dressed each of the venue’s three large banquet tables with 30ft garlands of cineraria eucalyptus. The silver-grey of this foliage suited Natalie and John’s elegant modern theme perfectly and it has such a beautiful fragrance. The top table was styled with additional snips of eucalyptus at each place setting.

For the finishing touch we created cake flowers of cymbidium orchid, roses and rich burgundy cornflowers. We paired these blooms with silver eucalyptus and blue thistle which looked so pretty atop the couple’s silver ombre four-tier wedding cake.

We adored working with Natalie and John to create their perfect day! If you’re planning a Wharfedale Grange wedding, please get in touch for an initial consultation or visit our Wedding page for more information.
