How we styled hundreds of roses for a glamorous white & blush wedding at Priory Cottages
Right away, we knew we were going to love creating Holli and Richard’s dream wedding day. The two of them were just so giddy when they came, with their equally warm families in tow, to their initial consultation. It was infectious! The couple wanted a really glamorous opulent wedding look. This can sometimes translate as traditional but as soon as we saw Holli’s stunning sparkle and tulle plunge gown from The Harrogate Wedding Lounge we knew that this wedding was going to be nothing but modern elegance.
The couple opted for an all white colour scheme with touches of blush and ivory for contrast. Richard presented us with the perfect challenge on what we knew would be a hot summer day: ‘What flowers to use for a groom with hay fever’, so we kept florals and foliage with strong scents to a minimum. For the bride, we created the only arrangement with scented blooms; a blousy, modern bridal bouquet full of white roses, and peonies, and blush coloured stocks paired with tiny hints of eucalyptus. The bridesmaids carried two smaller bouquets with additional foliage and blush toned florals to match their stunning metallic pink gowns.
We accessorised the bridesmaids’ hair with pale pink and white blooms, and created a delightful white and green flower crown for the couple’s adorable (!) flower girl. We knew that Holli and Richard’s wedding day was forecast to be HOT so we used hardy spray roses, rosebuds and eucalyptus to make sure the floral headpieces look beautiful all day long.
The ceremony and wedding breakfast took place at the amazing Priory Cottages. Holli and Richard knew they wanted a stunning floral installation for their vows but they weren’t sure what. In keeping with their theme of modern glamour, we created two floral columns from hundreds of white and ivory spray roses, blush peonies and lots of gorgeous white hydrangea. These pillars were moved after the ceremony to frame the entrance to the marquee, providing a beautiful and versatile backdrop from where the couple could greet each guest. We also styled the registrar’s table with a long centrepiece of white lisianthus, big white roses, white peonies and green bell. All elegantly framed by lots of eucalyptus, jasmine and rosemary. Divine! Once the ceremony was over, this arrangement was also reused and it was moved to sit on the couple’s long top table, providing a beautiful frame for the speeches.
We dressed the venue’s permanent marquee with tall arrangements of white hydrangea. We created lovely floral details at every angle with rose buds and delicate green bell to draw the eye up and give the table settings lots of elegant height. Finally, we styled a single cluster of all-white cake flowers of lisianthus, spray rose and peonies to top the couple’s tiered cupcake wedding cake.
